Learning to Drive in a Week

Many people might consider using an intensive driving course to learn to drive a car and even attempt to pass the UK driving test in one week for several reasons, but whatever the reason is for you wanting to learn to drive in such a short time, there are a few things that you need to be aware of.

Is it right for you? Learning to drive a car can either be easy or hard depending on an individual's ability, and you need to have a realistic view of things when it comes to using an intensive driving course to try and pass the UK driving test in a week. Most driving organizations that offer these courses will tell you how successful they are at getting learners their driving license, and some will even offer a guaranteed pass scheme (at a price to you the customer of course), but before you sign up and part with your money ask yourself a few questions.

Have I taken any driving lessons before, how did I do when it comes to coordinating hands, feet and head movements? Not everyone can easily and quickly acquire the psychomotor skills required for driving a car and while the majority of people will, you need to make sure you are in the majority camp and won't be lagging behind since you would have to follow a preset training schedule (with very little changes allowed) in order to take the driving test at the end of the week.

Can I assimilate a lot of information in a very short period? Depending on the driving school and how it operates it crash courses, you might have to take the theory test as well as the practical car test within that week, and that is a lot of work which might involve evening study after a full day of 6 hours intensive driving lessons!

What if I don't pass the driving test. Because you are repeating a lot of driving skills over a short period, will have a lot of practice of your test maneuvers, drive on the various roads and in conditions that you might encounter in the actual DSA practical car test you have a very high chance of passing, but what if you don't for whatever reason! In the UK you can't book another driving test until 10 days have passed since your last one, this means if you had to take time off work to travel to a residential camp, then you'll have to do the same a few weeks later and even if you have a guaranteed pass offer where you don't have to pay anymore for additional training and the test, you will still have to pay for accommodation , travel and take the time off work!

Will I be a safe driver? Passing the driving test doesn't mean that you are now fully ready to take on the world, and will be safe on the roads! Statistics have shown that new drivers are more likely to be involved in a serious or fatal accident within the first 12 months of them passing the test than any other time in their driving career, and for some the risks are even higher either because they are younger, or don't start driving immediately after passing thus using those skills and become rusty 1 year later when they eventually buy a car.

If you do learn to drive a car in a week and pass your driving test do be careful, and remember it takes years to become a safe driver, as there is nothing that beats experience!
